He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Hicks and Tina "Tiny" Reffett Hicks; and his siblings, Henry Edward Hicks (Junior), Oakie Stamper, Larry Hicks, Roger Hicks, James Danny Hicks, Delores Smith and Linda Sue Chandler.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara Adkins Hicks; his children, Alan Douglas Hicks (Melissa) of Louisville, KY and Pamela Ann Smith (Jimmy) of Prestonsburg, KY; his grandsons, Justin Matthew Collins (Sondra) and Steven Michael Smith; his stepgrandchildren, Maressa Holbrook and Melissa Biehl; his great grandchildren, Jade, Ryland, Eloise, Autumn, Yardlee and Fran; and his stepgreat-grandchildren, Breanna, Giselle, Sebastian and Theodore.
