He was predeceased by: his parents, Gilbert Swearingen and Nellie Shepperson Swearingen; his siblings, Junior Swearingen and Brenda Lane; and his grandson Nicholas Mills.
He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Southerland Swearinger; his children, Bryan Edward Swearinger (Robin) of Lexington, Jennifer Mills (Michael) of Stanford and Rebecca Gels (Scott); his grandchildren, Alaina Cooper (Will), McKenna Brannon (Luke), Madison Gels and Elijah Gels; his great grandchildren, Woods Cooper, Reed Cooper and Henry Brannon; and his sisters, Doris Maddox of Butchertown and Linda Durham (H. M.) of Stanford. He is also survived by brothers-in-law and sister-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Monday, August 31st 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the W. L. Pruitt Funeral Home (5590 Hwy 2141, Hustonville, KY 40437). A memorial service was held on Monday, August 31st 2026 at 7:00 PM at the same location.
Memorial contributions suggested to Friendship Baptist Church of Butchertown, Attn: June Southerland, 224 Friendship Lane, Parksville, KY 40464 or Butchertown Community Center, Attn: Marilyn Raitiere, 278 Friendship Lane, Parksville, KY 40464 (In Memory of Chester Swearinger).
