He was predeceased by: his parents, Ransom Hammond and Ivy Hammond; his son Jason Hammond; and his siblings, Elmer Dalton, Vicie Mills Oliver and Marie Mills.

He is survived by: his wife Joyce Preece Hammond of Inez, KY; his children, Dustin Hammond (Roshunda) of San Marcos, TX and Crystal Wright (Wesley) of Louisa, KY.; his grandchildren, Kiley Jo Wright, Jaylan Aaryn Wright, Jaycee Hammond and Xavier Hammond; and his close friend Buddy Pemberton.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the funeral home to assist with funeral cost.
