She was predeceased by: her parents, Erma Burle and Sally Alice Peters Lewis; her husband Joe Lester; her brothers, Wendell Lewis and Carl Lewis; her grandson Russell Joe Lester II; her great grandchildren, Joseph Ryan Lester and Rayden Kole McDowell; her grandson-in-law Eric Brian Thornberry; and her brother-in-law Vonlie Skaggs.
She is survived by: her children, Russell Joe Lester, Richard Dean Lester and Dianna Lynn Lester McDowell; her stepchildren, Jenny Lewis (Ricky), Larry Neal Thornberry (Donna) and Doug Thornberry; her siblings, Joyce Tackett (Harold), Loretta Skaggs, Jack Lewis (Carol), Homer Lewis (Enda) and Dennis Lewis; and her grandchildren, Ricky Lewis (Kari), Joshua Lewis, Amy Lester, Brittany Ward (Cody), Jessica Thompson (Jim), Rodney McDowell (Melissa), Nathan McDowell (Katie), Wesley McDowell, Skyler Lester and Leland Lester. She is also survived by 45 great-grandchildren, 30 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of extended family.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 25th 2026 at 4:00 PM at the Fannin Chapel United Baptist Church. A funeral service was held on Saturday, September 26th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
