He was predeceased by : his parents, James Elbert and Arrie Thornton (Martin); his son Shawn Larry Thornton; and his sister Shirley Amos. He is survived by : his spouse Frankie Thornton (Smith) of Keavy; his daughter Heather Thornton of Michigan; his stepchildren, Gail Scott (Roy David) of Hodgenville, Gary Stapleton of Hodgenville and Karen Matthis (Terry) of London, Kentucky; and his siblings, Bob Thornton of Irmo, Larry Thornton of Scottsville and Liz Mapes Meroney (Te) of Virginia Beach, Virginia.
