He was predeceased by : his parents, Leonard P. Grimes and Hallie Williams Grimes; and his brother William "Bill" Grimes (Leona Sutton). He is survived by : his wife Linda Mitchell Grimes; his children, Leonard Keith Grimes (Melissa) of Brooksville, KY, Rhonda Kaye Carpenter (Dan) of Maysville, KY and Troy Kevin Grimes (Lane) of Austin, TX; his grandchildren, Alexis Grimes (Brian), Lucas Gross and Dylan Carpenter; his great grandchildren, Haydon Warner, Cole Fryman and Adeline Gulley; and his sister Martha Hinson. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Thursday, May 2nd 2024 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Palmer Funeral Home (10 Bridgeville Rd, Germantown, KY 41044). A funeral service was held on Thursday, May 2nd 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
