He was predeceased by: his parents, Emmette Benton and Ruthie Mae Benton (Tidwell); his wife Joyce; his daughter Denise Benton; and his brother Jim Benton.
He is survived by: his children, James Benton of Kevil, Chris Benton (Michelle) of Kevil, KY and Lesley Rushing (Shawn) of Kevil; his sisters, Frances Wyma (Jimmy) of Eldridge and Becky Coleman (Donald) of Northport, Alabama; and his grandchildren, Nicole Donoho, Hunter Benton, Tiffany Benton, Teanna Hamilton, Trevon Rushing and Preston Rushing. He is also survived by eight great grandchildren.
