He was predeceased by: his mother Dorothy Mae Patterson (Stevens); his daughter Anitra Patterson; and his sister Diane Patterson Perkins. He is survived by: his father Everett Patterson; his wife Violet Patterson (Elrod) of Kevil; his children, Michael Lance Patterson of West Paducah, Roger Clay Patterson (Brittney) of Barlow and Jackie Marie Bowling (Mike) of Paducah; and his grandchildren, Brandon Patterson, Tyler Patterson (Amber), Anitra Kay Willings, Skyler Able Bowling, Grace Patterson, Gabriel Patterson and Noah Sherwood. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren.
