He was predeceased by: his parents, William Thelen and Ann Thelen; his wife Joan Thelen; and his siblings, William Thelen and Mary Ann Perraut.
He is survived by: his sons, Michael Thelen (Terri), Chris Thelen and Patrick Thelen (Amy); his grandchildren, Malory Thelen, Brennen Thelen and Bailey Thelen; his great grandchildren, Ryker and Aspen Thelen; his in-laws, Susan Wiebe (Robert) and Douglas Droege (Barb); and his nieces and nephews, Rob Thelen, Willy Thelen, Tony Perraut, Kevin Perraut, Mark Perraut, Lawrence Droege, Rob Wiebe and Jennifer Henry. He is also survived by his family; he took great pride in his children and grandchildren.
