He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Willie Palmer Metcalf and Alta Hammonds Metcalf; the mother of his children Donna Castle Metcalf; his children, Mark Hammonds Metcalf, Barry Clark Metcalf, James Carlton Metcalf, Sara Leigh Metcalf and Timothy Shea Metcalf; and his granddaughters, Sarah Chambers Metcalf-Garcia and Merritt Cailes Metcalf-Garcia. He was also cherished by in-laws, nephews, nieces, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are preferred to Heritage Hospice.
