He was predeceased by: his wife Mary Lou Abel (Portier); his parents, Charles Abel and Myrtle Abel (Ward); and his sisters, Janet Leitsinger and Judy Bird.
He is survived by: his daughter Pam Sheaffer; his son-in-law Paul; his son Chuck Abel; his daughter-in-law Kim; his grandchildren, Kristin Scanlan (Aaron), Kasey Sheaffer (Kelly), Kaitlyn Tolley (Luke), Kelsey Downton (Alex), Kassidy Schoonover (Jon) and Karley Abel; and his great grandchildren, Rachel, Elijah, Lissie Scanlan, Will, Emmie Sheaffer, Eliana, Elliot, Emarie Tolley, Jude, Joey, Jones Downton, Mason and Marlow Schoonover.
