He was predeceased by : his father Sidney Cowherd; his wife Mary Francis Moffitt Cowherd; and his siblings, James, Tinka, Buck, Dick, John Cowherd, Lizzie "Big Baby", Josephine Conner, Mary Catherine Adams and Estella "Boo" Cowherd.

He is survived by : his sons, Charles L. Moffitt of Lebanon, Jamie Cowherd of Lebanon and Ray Moffitt (Monica) of Campbellsville; his siblings, Tom Cowherd (Alberta) and Lorine Gunn; his grandchildren, Deyana, Deyera, Shacoya, Olivia, Lexus, Amber, Calob, Demarcus, Kaden, Bronson, Kamryn (Kam), Kashlyn (Sissy) and Aiden Dotson; his great grandchildren, Jackie Furmon and Daija Ellis; and his father-in-law Roy Jackie Moffitt of Lebanon, KY. He is also survived by other relatives, nieces and nephews.
