He was predeceased by: his parents, Emmett Abell Lee and Anna Kathleen Hughes; and his siblings, J. E. Lee, Stanley Lee and Tootsie Tate.

He is survived by: his wife Peggy Lee; his children, Debbie Lee-Clark (Mike) of Jacksonville, James K. Lee (Kim) of Dallas, J. Stan Lee (Tami) of Lexington and Scott Lee of Louisville; his stepsons, Jeff Marr (Stacy) and Mike Marr; and his stepgrandchildren, Leeanne Clark, Addie Elizabeth Lee and Ava Marr.
