She was predeceased by: her parents, Rosaline Gideon Coates and Lawrence Coates; her brothers, Lawrence David Coates and Arthur Norman Coates; her sisters-in-law, Florence, Dorothy Harrell, Anna Lou Fleener, Juanita Hockemeier and Launett Coates; and her stepdaughter Melanie Harrell Howard.

She is survived by: her husband Carter D. Harrell, Sr.; her children, Debbie Wehner (Mike), Jackie Howard (Rick) and Carter D. Harrell, Jr. (Laura); her grandchildren, Rachel Everley (Robert), Jarrod Nash (Emma), Trevor (Kaelyn) and Cooper Howard; her children, Avery Elizabeth and Alex Carter Harrell; her brothers, Arnold and Ronald Coates; and her sisters-in-law, Barbara, Virgaline and Jean Coates. She is also survived by four great grandchildren.
