He was predeceased by: his parents, Claude Johnson and Janie VanMeter Johnson; his former wife Lois Milam Johnson; his daughter Leisha Johnson; and his siblings, Gene, Billy Johnson, Corene Logsdon, Ernestine Sego and Geraldine Haycraft.

He is survived by: his wife Jana Farris Johnson; his children, Kaye Burnette (George) and Jim Johnson; his stepchildren, David Cole (Alana), Gary Cole (Melissa) and Susan Lester (Mike); his grandchildren, Dylan Milliner, Alex Majors, Brynnan Beckman and Hunter Johnson; his stepgrandchildren, Jennifer, Brad, Heather, Amanda, Brianna, Chelsea, Graham, Lauren and Brody; and his siblings, Shirley Cain, Annalee Watson and Roy Owen Johnson. He is also survived by three great grandchildren; two step great grandchildren.
