He was predeceased by: his parent Joy Eugene Spence; and his sister Dawn Spence. He is survived by: his parent Mary Ellen Hill Bates; his wife Debra Cook Spence; and his siblings, Debbe Strege, Dan (Carrie) and Shawn Spence.
