He was predeceased by: his wife Sue Richie Dickerson; and his siblings, Iona Dyer, Martha Floyd, Etta Redmond and Hayden Dickerson.
He is survived by: his children, Teresa Cooper and Robert Earl Dickerson (Sonya); his sister Jennie Smithers; and his grandchildren, Christopher Cooper (Tiffany), Timothy Cooper (Alicia), Brandy Blevins (Michael), Thomas Dickerson (Arlene) and Michael Dickerson. He is also survived by 11 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren and numerous other extended family.
Visitation was held on Saturday, September 12th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the East Hickman Baptist Church (6418 Tates Creek Rd, Lexington, KY 40515). A funeral service was held on Saturday, September 12th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the same location.
The family suggests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to the East Hickman Baptist Church in David's memory.
