He was predeceased by: his parents, William Lloyd and Elizabeth McClure Mahan; and his brother Charles L. Mahan. He is survived by: his wife Judith Bradley Mahan; his children, Mark A. Mahan (Melissa), Lynn M. Wright (Jim) and John B. Mahan (Lisa); and his grandchildren, Brian Wright (Ashleigh), Garrett Wright, Amy Wright, Lane Mahan, Michael Wright, Leah Wright, Nick Greer, Carter Greer, Jake Mahan and Maggie Mahan.
