He is survived by: his wife Lucy; his niece Susan Walden (Mac); and his sons, William Smith (Amanda), Jesse Smith (Jessica) and John Smith (Hope). He is also survived by nine grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 11th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Pisgah Presbyterian Church (710 Pisgah Pike, Versailles, KY 40383). A reception will be held on Wednesday, November 11th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Thoroughbred Club (3555 Rice Rd, Lexington, KY 40510).
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to the Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation.
