She was predeceased by: her parents, Edgar Franklin Johnson, Jr. and Helen Adline Johnson (Taliaferro); and her brothers, Buddy and Rick Johnson. She is survived by: her children, Kathleen Cox (Jeff), Mary Helen Slone (Greg), John Payne (Juana), Stephanie Crawford and Tracy Dawkins (Ken); her grandchildren, Courtney Priddy, Drew Slone, Sonja Barlow, Dakota Arnold and Clayton Payne; her great grandchild Sawyer Barlow; her siblings, Marge Young and Stephen Johnson; and her husband John. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations in Joy's memory to the "Friends of the Lexington Senior Center", 195 Life Ln, Lexington, 40502, in recognition of her enduring commitment to the well-being of local seniors.
