He was predeceased by: his parents, D. M. Carty and Evon Jackson Carty; his daughter Stephanie Carty; and his brother Anthony Carty. He is survived by: his wife Charlotte Miller Carty; his children, Derek Carty of Lexington and Julie (Paul Sexton) of Lexington; his sister Gwen Short of Knott County; and his grandchildren, Shelby Sexton and Lydia Sexton.
