We announce the death of Meriwether Cary Blaydes (Lexington, Kentucky), born in Fredericksburg, Virginia, who passed away on September 28, 2026, at the age of 97. Meriwether will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his parents, Mary Douglas Meriwether and Maxey Lee Blaydes. He is survived by: his wife Nancy Cleaves; his daughters, Elizabeth Blaydes Evans (Donald), Katherine Blaydes Mittelbusher and Margaret Blaydes Vitrano (Andrew); and his grandchildren, Emily Evans, Jack Evans, Grace Evans, Elsa Mittelbusher, Emery Vitrano and Knox Vitrano.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Christ Church (166 Market St, Lexington, KY 40507). A reception will be held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Christ Church Cathedral.
