He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Byrd and Francis Byrd; his wife Ella L. Byrd; his sons, Michael Byrd and Gregory Bledsoe; and his siblings, Edna Byrd Jones, Ernest Byrd and John "Herman" Byrd.
He is survived by: his brother Donald "Duck" Byrd; and his nieces and nephews, Marakeia Arthur Campbell (Tonya), Maria Bledsoe, Robert C. Bledsoe (Linda), Dave Covington (Cheryl), Wendell Simpson (Bernice), Gwendolyn Mitchell (Jessie), Kenneth Hughes (Tresha) and Regina Hughes. He is also survived by 25 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews' cousins and friends.
