She was predeceased by: her parents, Geneva Stanforth Oldson and Keller Johnson Oldson; and her siblings, Maudie Conley Cook and Irvin Floyd Britton. She is survived by: her husband Alan Kent Gaitskill; her daughters, Kimberly Thomas Hurst and Whitney Lynn Curci; her son-in-law Frank Curci; her grandchildren, Phillip Brandon Hurst, Kristen Gaitskill Hurst, Alan Michael Curci, Adam Kent Curci and Samantha Marie Curci; and her great grandchildren, Julian, Darrian, Jayda Brook, Ava Lynn, Isaiah, Emory and Elena.

Memorial contributions in Sonja's honor may be made to St. Raphael Episcopal Church or The Lexington Humane Society.
