He is survived by: his wife Frances Harting Cox; his sons, William Preston Cox, Jr. (Caroline Delafield Cox) and George Coleman Cox; his grandchildren, Preston Delafield Cox and Margaret Livingston Cox; and his nephews, Jesse Shy Hocker, IV and George Bowling Hocker.
