He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilton Scalf and Maureen Scalf (Purkey); and his siblings, Zesta Smith, Leota Abdou and Johnny Scalf.
He is survived by: his children, Karen G. Scalf (Carla Seamonds), Ellen C. Scalf, Susan K. Scalf (Amy Powers) and John E. Scalf (Angela Hensley); the mother of his children Nellie G. Cummins; his grandchildren, Aden, Everett, Lila Durrett (Ellen Scalf), Clancy and Liam Scalf (John E. Scalf); and his sister Debbie Midden. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
