She was predeceased by : her parents, Richmond Cress and Celia Westerfield Cress; her husband Robert Mitchell; her siblings, Kenneth Cress, Laverne Cress, Viola Hollon and June Brenes; and her grandsons, Nathaniel Mitchell, Frank Boswell and Reuben Mitchell.

She is survived by : her children, Darryl Mitchell of Newport, Judy Boswell of Amelia, Peggy Snyder of Mount Vernon, Steve Mitchell (Jackie) of Lexington, John Mitchell (Kimberlie) of Gainesville, Susan Mitchell of Livingston and Jennifer Mitchell (Virginia) of Ann Arbor, Michigan; and her siblings, Marie Cress of Seattle and Lundy Cress of Russell Springs, Kentucky. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations in her name to the two facilities who took care of her in the last weeks of her life.
