He was predeceased by: his wife Ruthie Gilbert Cottrell; and his siblings, James "Hijacker" Cottrell, Lorraine Roberts and Charles "Strawberry" Cottrell. He is survived by: his children, Mark Cottrell (Carolyn) of East Bernstadt, KY, Susan Perovich (Colonel) of Ulysses, PA, John Cottrell of Manchester, KY, Sharon Mercure of Wilmington, DE, Wendy Bishop (Mark) of Somerset, KY and Kevin Cottrell of London, KY; and his siblings, Mildred Smith, Joan Reid and Mac Cottrell. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, his great grandchildren.
