He was predeceased by: his father Jimmy Shorter. He is survived by: his mother Linda McKenzie; his wife Starla Chaffins Shorter; his children, Christine Shorter (Gary Inman) of London and Johnny Shorter, Jr. of Fairfield, Indiana; and his sister Frankie Rector.
