He was predeceased by : his parents, A. C. Spencer and Priscilla Spencer (Hensley); and his siblings, Silas Spencer, Willie Ray Spencer, Mildred Caldwell, Addie Banks, Jean Carol Smith and Alene Woods.

He is survived by : his son Roger Darrell Spencer of Lily, Kentucky..
