He was predeceased by : his parents, Bernard Leo and Mary Zita Miles Cissell; and his siblings, Geneva Walker, Mary Florence Sapp, Bernard, Harold, Tony and Joe Cissell.

He is survived by : his wife Norma Jean Buckman Cissell; his children, Kevin of Louisville, Gerald Cissell of Louisville, Gayla Cissell (Joe Luckett) of Oakland and Bryan Cissell (Kristi) of Lebanon; and his siblings, Mary Jane Nugent (Ray) of Loretto, Leon Cissell (Rose) of Loretto, Bob Cissell of Loretto and Charles Cissell of Bardstown. He is also survived by seven grandchildren.
