Francis Gerald Smith Obituary
We announce the death of Francis Gerald Smith of Loretto, Kentucky, who passed away on September 27, 2026, at the age of 76. Francis will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, William Herbert and Mary Geraldine Cambron Smith; his siblings, Tommy Smith, Harvey Smith, Kelly Smith and Barbara Nell Boone; his siblings-in-law, Tony Medley, Bernard Boone, Lawerence Boone, Andy Miles, Gloria Smith and Renee Miles; his nephew Gerald Kennedy Smith; and his grandson Austin Smith.
He is survived by: his wife Gladys; his children, April Weakley of Lebanon, Christina Hamilton (David) of Lebanon, Timothy Smith (Stacey) of St Francis and Deanna Kelley (Jack) of Bardstown; and his grandchildren, Jace Newton, Joey Hamilton, Shaina Harrison, David Hamilton, Meredith Call, Riley Ellis, Sammie Smith, Isaac Smith, Kennedy Kelley, Jacklynn Kelley and Hallie Hamilton.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 1st 2026 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Mattingly Funeral Home (195 Holy Cross Rd, Loretto, KY 40037). A prayer will be held on Thursday, October 1st 2026 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A Mass will be held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church (6785 KY-52, Loretto, KY 40037).
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Gerald's honor to the Alzheimer's Association Research at Alzheimer's Association (https://donorservices.alz.org).
