She was predeceased by: her husband Marvin Carpenter; her parents, George Gruneisen and Alice Grunisen Hellman; her sister Marlene Spiehs; her son Larry Marcum; her stepsons, Marvin Carpenter Jr. and Allen Drew Carpenter; her stepgrandson Brent Carpenter; her sister Odilia "Aunt Dolly"; and her niece Sarah Spiehs.

She is survived by: her children, Dennis Marcum, Donna Sexton (Warren) and Lorie Marcum; her stepchildren, James Arthur Carpenter (Debbie), Candy Sue Miller and Michael Lee Carpenter; her grandchildren, Jermy Marcum, Nicholas Puffer, Kayla Marcum and Branden Sexton; her stepgrandchildren, Greg Carpenter, Tina Carpenter, Christy Shelton (Chris), Ginny Lynn Puckett Fentress (Ron), Robert "BJ" Puckett (Beth) and Ezra Carpenter; her nephew Steven Spiehs; and her daughter Ruth Marcum.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made in memory of Alice Carpenter to American Macular Degeneration Foundation.
