He was predeceased by: his parents, F. Lee Wells and Rita Brady Wells; and his friends, Mickey Strauss, Fred Stein, Jim Jundt, Don Cecil, Ed Spiegel and Byron Wein.
He is survived by: his friends, Jimmy Dawson, Bob Farrell, Lee Cooperman, Rick Reiss, Dave Marvin, Jim Awad and Paul Ross; his wife Margaret Ann Wells; his children, Laura (Osman), Elizabeth, Lee (Malcolm) and Eleanor (Yoram); his grandchildren, Kendall, William, James, John Meher, Julia Feride, Cetin, Eleanora, Alistair Biranis, Harvey and E. Wells Heller; and his brother Crawford Wells (Alice).
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 26th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church (501 Cherrywood Rd, Louisville, KY 40207). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 27th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Tuesday, October 27th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Cave Hill Cemetery (701 Baxter Ave, Louisville, KY 40204).
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Darrell Wells Endowment at St. Xavier High School or the Baptist East Health Foundation.
