He is survived by: his wife Pam Chesher; his children, Heather Sowders (Jamie), Eric Chesher (Casye) and Brandon Chesher; his grandsons, Jacob Sowders, Noah Chesher and Scotty Chesher; his siblings, Mark Chesher (Connie), Julie Mohr (Gary) and Nancy Aubrey; and his sister-in-law Rita Neeley (Steve).

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 8th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Resthaven (4400 Bardstown Rd, Louisville, KY 40218). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 9th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the same location. A committal service will be held on Friday, October 9th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Friday, October 9th 2026 at the Resthaven Memorial Park (4400 Bardstown Rd, Louisville, KY 40218).

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Trinity High School toward a scholarship established in David's name, a lasting tribute to a school and community that meant so much to him.
