Edith Gibbs Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Edith Gibbs of Louisville, Kentucky, who passed away on April 8, 2024 at the age of 90. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Leslie E. Hatton and Hazel Louise Hatton Mathews (Ferguson); her adoptive parents, Herschel Lowe and Helen Marie Lowe (Hatton); her daughter Michelle Gibbs; and her half-siblings, Otis Henry Mathews, Nelson Wayne Mathews and Wanda Sullivan.

She is survived by: her sons, Monte G. Gibbs (Tonya) of Hardinsburg, KY and Robert L. Gibbs of Louisville, KY; her grandson Troy Gibbs of Louisville, KY; and her half-siblings, Bonnie Detraz (Edsel) of Sheridan, IN, Phyllis Christman of Bennington, IN, Sharon Johnson (Dave) of Madison, IN, Kathy Scott of Toccoa, GA, Linda Ricketts (Larry) of Edinburgh, IN, Raymond "Bimbo" Mathews (Bonnie) of Madison, IN, Mickey Mathews (Bev) of Patriot, IN and Jim Mathews of Vevay, IN. She is also survived by her several nieces, nephews and cousins.
