He was predeceased by: his parents, George Balsley and Goldie Balsley (Hurt); his wife Whilma Balsley; and his sisters, Violet, Ila and Naomi.

He is survived by: his children, Sharon Ballard (Terry), Patricia Dye (Mike), Ernest Balsley Jr., Judith Kaelin (Mark) and Sandra Mayes (Anthony). He is also survived by 53 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 4th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Ratterman Southwest Funeral Home (4832 Cane Run Rd, Louisville, KY 40216). A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, June 5th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
