He was predeceased by: his parents, Gilbert Richter and Jeannette Richter (Brown); his wife Carrol Jane Richter; his stepsons, Chester Mosley and William Mosley; and his brother Ralph Richter.

He is survived by: his sister Barbara Guthrie of Powder Springs, Georgia; his children, Ruthie Mann (Steve) of North Africa and James Richter (Charissa) of Gays Mills, Wisconsin; his stepchildren, Julie Voss and Bobby Mosley; his grandchildren, Lina, Ria, Jed Mann, Cecil and Bernadette Richter; and his stepgrandchildren, Devin Mosley, Dylan Mosley, Matthew Sellers and Alex Voss. He is also survived by step-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
