He was predeceased by: his parents, Bee Carpenter and Essie Mae Fox Carpenter; his wife Nell Carpenter; his son John David Carpenter; and his siblings, Morris Carpenter and Alberta Lentz.
He is survived by: his children, Sandy McGill (Jack), Tom Carpenter (Pattie) and Bill Carpenter (Kim); his grandchildren, Kristen Jones (Nick), Brian McGill (Kristen), Jennifer Russo (Michael), Zach Carpenter Casey (Heather) and Taylor Carpenter (Kyle Priddy); his great grandchildren, Colleen, Will Jones, Winnie Carpenter and Eleanor Elzy; and his sister Janie Miller.
