He was predeceased by: his parents, Irene Batliner and Bernard Batliner Sr.; and his siblings, Bernice Hill, Gladys Cooper, Earlene Montgomery, Bernard "Butch" Batliner Jr. and David Lee Batliner.

He is survived by: his spouse Jean Gettelfinger Batliner; his children, Joe Batliner Jr. (Myra), Douglas Batliner (Vickie), David Batliner (Betty), Mary Ann Batliner, Bridget Zipp, Thomas Batliner (Denise) and Jeffrey Batliner (Angel); and his siblings, James Batliner, Mary Hunter and Judy Jacobi. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 28th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Ln, New Albany, IN 47150). A Mass will be held on Thursday, October 29th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the St Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church (5719 St Marys Rd, Floyds Knobs, IN 47119). A burial will be held on Thursday, October 29th 2026 at the Saint Mary of the Knobs Cemetery (5719 St Marys Rd, Floyds Knobs, IN 47119).
