It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Maxine Thornton of Louisville, Kentucky, who passed away on September 21, 2023, at the age of 73, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Richard Sanderson and Emorgene Sanderson; her husband Jewell Thornton; her brother John Lee Nuckols; her stepson Rondal Thornton; and her grandson McKinely Jr..

She is survived by: her children, Malina J. Kirk, Jewel Miller (Corie) and McKinely Sr. (Latonya); her stepchildren, Steve Thornton, Timothy Thornton, Vivian Thornton, Carolyn S. Buntyn and Jacqueline Jewell; her grandchildren, Scooter Kilgore (Stephanie), TaKara Kilgore (Johnny), Destinee Reed, Michael Rudolph Jr., Marquai Rudolph, Nigel Maxwell, Devin Reed, Kenisha Thornton, Ka'Lizsha Thornton, Marqway Watkins, Leron Brown and Shavez Ford; her stepdaughters, Trinitee Smith, Treasure Smith and Khi'Lina Thornton; her brother Mark Nuckols; and her nieces, Emilee Wood, Markeysha Nuckols and Tonieka Martin. She is also survived by other relatives and friends.
