Rita Correa Hackmiller Obituary

Rita C. Hackmiller, 82 of Louisville, passed away peacefully at the Hosparus Inpatient Care Center, on Saturday, July 12, 2025, just two weeks shy of her 83rd birthday.

She was born July 26, 1942, in Louisville, one of three children to the late Henrigue Correa and Charlotte Bechtel Correa. Her brother, Ronald Correa precedes her in death.

Rita was a researcher for the University of Louisville. She was a devoted wife to her late husband, Jim. When he was in the nursing home she visited him almost every day, bringing him the foods he loved. They often watched the Lawrence Welk Show together.

In addition to her parents and brother, she is also preceded in death by her husband, James Allan "Jim" Hackmiller, who passed in May. She is survived by a brother H. Glenn Correa; brother-in-law, Arthur Hackmiller; sister-in-law, Sue Hackmiller and several nieces and nephews.

There will be a prayer service at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 18, 2025, at Ratterman Funeral Home, 3711 Lexington Road, St. Matthews with a visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. until time of prayers. Rita will be laid to rest alongside her husband in Calvary Cemetery.
