He was predeceased by: his parents, Lossie Winstead and Kathleen Winstead (Poole); his wife Janis Winstead (Simpson); and his sister LaVerne Blue. He is survived by: his son Mark Winstead (Janet) of Hanson, KY; his grandson Ryan Winstead of Louisville, KY.; and his brother Roy Ellis.
