He was predeceased by: his parents, Frances Woodward Wells and Jesse Wells; his former wife Mary "Ruthie" Hancock Wells; his sister Joy Whicker; and his brothers-in-law, Charles Starr and Mark Whicker.
He is survived by: his wife Tarry Everett Wells of Madisonville; his children, Jesse Wells (Michelle) of Central City, KY and Tammy Wells Barton (Keith) of Hanson, KY; his sisters, Melinda Starr of Nortonville, Diana Smiley (Mark) of Dawson Springs, KY and Delena Daves (Tracey) of Bowling Green, KY; and his grandchildren, Mallory Hunt, Cameron Hunt (Kendall), Kyle Barton, Luke Barton and Makenzie Williams (Ryan). He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
