He was predeceased by: his parents, Dan Cornelius and Addie Pearl Cavanaugh (Winsett) of Nortonville; his siblings, Thomas Amon Cavanaugh, Paul Dennis Cavanaugh and Esther Joyce Strader; and his brothers-in-law, O'Neal Lewis and Kenneth Phaup.

He is survived by: his wife Juanita Cavanaugh (Grace); his children, Stephen Forest Cavanaugh of Princeton and Deb Dixon (Lewis) of Madisonville; his granddaughter Lydia Nicole; his sisters, Martha Jo Lewis of Nortonville, Carolyn Phaup of Madisonville and Rita Yandell (Larry) of Nortonville; and his siblings-in-law, Norma Cavanaugh of Henderson, Jeannie Cavanaugh of Nortonville and Rev. Doug Strader of Louisville. He is also survived by several nephews and nieces.
