He was predeceased by : his parents, Wilma Loretta Franklin Mitchell and James Walter Mitchell; and his brothers, James Monroe and Noel Wayne Mitchell. He is survived by : his wife Ida Hutchings Mitchell; his sons, Lee Mitchell and Jonathan Mitchell; his brothers, William Mitchell Sr. (Teresia) of Bremen, KY, Austin Mitchell of Central City, KY, Steve Mitchell of Beach Creek, KY and David Mitchell (Jessie) of Madisonville; and his grandchildren, Zachary Mitchell and Mallorie Mitchell.

A graveside service was held on Wednesday, May 1st 2024 at 12:00 PM at the Silent Run Baptist Church Cemetery (640 Silent Run Church Rd, Nebo, KY 42441).
