He was predeceased by: his parent Maxine Rawlings Smith; and his wife Betty Lewis. He is survived by: his children, Shery Shepherd and Billy Joe Hatfield; his grandchildren, Michael Blaine Shepherd, Alexia Lynn Shepherd, Hunter Hatfield, Meghan Hatfield, Iris Hatfield, Charlie Hatfield and Bill Hatfield; and his siblings, George Lewis, Bige Lewis and Janet Foutch.
