He was predeceased by: his parents, John Downey and Opal Downey (Smith); his wife Cynthia Downey; his children, Homer Downey and Margie Halcomb; and his siblings, Otis Downey, Gilbert Downey, Charles Doug Downey, Virgie Henson, Orita Jones and Georgia Parks.
He is survived by: his children, Benny Downey, Ruby Stanfield, Theresa Bowman, Rhonda Weston, Sherry Hubbard and Johnny Downey. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.
