He was predeceased by: his parents, Wallace Sanderson and Gertie Cope Sanderson; and his brothers, Ray, Charles, Howard and Harold.

He is survived by: his wife Janice Sanderson; his children, Lavelle Curd, Greg Sanderson and Michael Sanderson (Dana); his grandchildren, Rachael, Ashley, Chelsea, Hailey and Leah; and his sister Judy McIntosh (Larry). He is also survived by eleven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
