He was predeceased by : his son Tim Burnett; his sister Diane Gilliam; his grandsons, Ryan Burnett and Dustin Burnett; and his parents, Lester Burnett and Lorell Cook Burnett.

He is survived by : his wife Anna Burnett; his daughter Shana Story (Randy) of Mayfield, KY; his grandchildren, Jessie Story, Miranda Brewer, Shelby Dowdy and Austin Burnett; and his great grandchildren, Lane Brewer, Annie Story, Clayton Dowdy, Byron Story, Isaac Story, Bella Burnett and Sophia Burnett.
